Terms of Use
Last updated August 2026
Steady Ground is a private tool for organizing your own records. These terms describe what the service does, what it does not do, and what we each agree to.
1. What Steady Ground is
Steady Ground is software that helps you record factual events, attach supporting files, and assemble those records into report packages you can review or share. It is a documentation and organization tool only.
2. Not legal advice
Steady Ground is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal opinions. Nothing in the product, including any AI-generated text, is a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. We make no representation that any record, summary, or report will be admissible or persuasive in any proceeding.
3. Your account & representations
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for the accuracy of what you record. You agree to document only events you personally experienced or observed, and to use the service lawfully.
You represent that you are at least 18 years old, that you own or have the right to upload any file you attach, and that the records you enter are true to your knowledge. You agree not to upload content that is false, unlawful, harassing, or that you do not have the right to hold.
4. Your content
You own everything you enter. We store it so you can retrieve it, and we do not sell it, publish it, or use it to advertise to you. You may export or delete your data at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Steady Ground to harass, surveil, or intimidate anyone; to store material you have no right to hold; or to attempt to access another person’s account or data.
6. Membership, billing and refunds
Steady Ground is a paid membership billed monthly or annually through our payment processor. Membership renews automatically until cancelled. Because Steady Ground is a digital product delivered immediately, all sales are final and no refunds are issued, including partial refunds for unused time.
You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues through the end of the period already paid for. Founding member pricing, where offered, is limited in number and remains at the founding rate for as long as that membership stays continuously active.
If a payment fails, access is not suspended immediately — the payment method is retried, and access ends if payment is not completed. If a chargeback or dispute is filed, access may be suspended while the bank reviews it. Contacting us first is usually faster than a dispute.
Cancelling does not delete your data. Records remain stored and available again on re-subscribing, and you can export everything before your access ends.
7. Availability and limits of liability
The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any outcome of a legal matter in which your records are used. Keep your own copies of anything critical.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Steady Ground harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, content you upload that you do not have the right to hold, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or another person’s rights. This does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own misconduct.
9. Intellectual property
Steady Ground owns the service, its design, and its software. You own the records and files you enter — we hold them so you can retrieve them, and we do not sell, publish, or use them to advertise to you. If you believe content on the service infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice through the contact route in the app with the details required for a proper notice; we will review and act on valid requests.
10. Governing law & dispute resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the service that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved by binding arbitration administered in New York under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, on an individual basis — you and Steady Ground each waive any right to a class action or class arbitration. You may instead bring a claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above. Questions can be sent through the contact route provided in the app.
